Saskatoon, SK, February 16, 2018: Skyxe Saskatoon Airport is deeply sorry for the significant wait times that passengers are currently experiencing at our airport’s security screening during our peak travel season. We do not want guests encumbered by long security line ups at our airport; this is not measuring up to Skyxe’s vision of being Canada’s most valued airport experience.
To confirm, Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has complete jurisdiction and accountability over security screening at all airports across Canada. CATSA is a government-funded, federal Crown corporation that is responsible for staffing levels and number of security lines open.
Although Skyxe is not in control of the security process, we have called on CATSA directly to remedy this matter and have confidence in a timely resolve that re-attains acceptable wait times. We value our relationship with CATSA, and regularly provide them with up-to-date airline schedules to assist them in staffing.
Skyxe continues to reiterate the importance for passengers to arrive early for their flight, allowing extra time for security screening.
Skyxe Saskatoon Airport will continue to monitor the situation and bring up any further concerns to CATSA immediately. Skyxe also encourages passengers to bring their concerns to CATSA directly (information on how to contact CATSA directly can be found at https://www.catsa.gc.ca/questions-comments-and-complaints).
