Saskatoon, SK: Today, Saskatoon Airport Authority (SAA) is pleased to announce the nomination of two new members, Chief Tammy Cook-Searson and Mark Leach, to the SAA Board of Directors.
With the addition of these new members, the Board announces the retirement of long-standing Board member William Hogan who has served on the Board since 2013. “We are fortunate to have had Bill as a member of the SAA Board over the last 9-years and have benefited from his experience in business development and community planning initiatives in Northern Saskatchewan.” says Stephen Maybury, President and CEO of Skyxe Saskatoon Airport. “Bill has given a significant amount of time and effort to our Board over the years, and we have benefited from his direction on our Community Consultative, and Safety Health and Environment, Committees.”
The nomination of SAA’s newest Board members was made public today by SAA Board Chair David Weger at its Annual Public Meeting. Chief Tammy Cook-Searson was nominated by Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Saskatchewan and replaces Bill Hogan. Mark Leach was nominated by the Saskatoon Airport Authority and replaces a vacant position on the Board.
“We are pleased to welcome Chief Cook-Searson and Mr. Leach to our Board,” states David Weger. “These individuals bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in their respective fields and will be an asset to the Board as we further the Saskatoon Airport Authority’s Vision to be Canada’s most valued airport experience.”

About Chief Tammy Cook-Searson
As a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB), Tammy Cook-Searson was raised on the family trapline near Brabant Lake in Northern Saskatchewan. A fluent Cree speaker, Cook-Searson is exceptionally proud of her First Nations heritage, and is a strong advocate of culture, language, and maintaining strong ties to the land. At the age of 25, she was elected as a LLRIB Councillor, where she served three terms before being elected as the band’s first female Chief in 2005. Cook-Searson is currently serving her sixth conservative term with LLRIB.
In recognition of her leadership to develop solutions for social challenges, advocacy for Indigenous issues, health living, and community service, Cook-Searson has been recognized with many awards, including: Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business – Woman in Leadership Award (2021); Award Canadian Armed Forces Special Service Medal (2020); honorary Diploma of Business Administration from the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (2019); Louisa Sanderson Memorial Award, La Ronge Native Women’s Council (2019); Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce ABEX Award for Community Leader of the Year (2017); honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of Regina (2016); Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012); Saskatchewan Centennial Medal (2006); and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal (2002).
About Mark Leach
Mark Leach has lived in Saskatoon for the past 12 years and is currently the Vice President of Business Technology Services for Cameco Corporation where he is accountable for Cameco’s IT systems and Cyber Security program. Mark is also one of the senior leadership team members responsible for overseeing the implementation of Cameco’s Digital Transformation program.
Mark has a Bachelor of Commerce and holds an MBA from University of Wales. He has over 28 years experience providing strategic leadership and guidance pertaining to information technology and the implementation of cyber security governance. Mark brings broad business experience gained while working at senior levels in diverse industries such as banking and finance, oil and gas, energy, local and provincial government, education, and mining. He has worked in a variety of countries including South Africa, the United Kingdom and Canada.
