Saskatoon Airport Authority Travel Advisory

Saskatoon, SK: Saskatoon Airport Authority (SAA) is advising travelers to allow extra time for departing flights both during Christmas and throughout the winter vacation season. Additional scheduled routes and a strong winter “sun-charter” season has resulted in a record volume of passengers. This translates into longer wait times at both check-in counters and pre-board screening, particularly for those early morning departures.

Passengers themselves play an important role and can ease their wait times by arriving early and being prepared. Extra time should be allowed for parking, check-in and security screening. Travelers should be aware of the regulation regarding “liquids, gels and aerosols”.

“Everyone is doing their part to expedite passengers through the check-in and pre-board screening lines”, says Bill Restall, President and CEO of the SAA. “Airlines are adhering to cut-off times as well as advising their passengers to proceed through screening in a timely manner. Pre-board screening officers are at full staff and volunteer ambassadors are here in the early mornings to assist. But the reality is there are record numbers being processed and it is extremely busy, particularly in the early mornings.”

Travelers are advised to check with their airlines for updated information on check-in times as well as arrival and departure schedules. Information for all airlines and updated arrival and departure times can be accessed through the SAA website at www.yxe.ca.
