COVID-19 Testing Travel Notices

  • All travellers 12 years of age or older, will need to be fully vaccinated in order to board a flight in Canada, but there is no testing requirement for domestic travel between provinces within Canada.

Arriving into Canada:

Effective April 1, 2022, fully vaccinated travellers, arriving at land, air or marine ports of entry will no longer be required to complete a pre-entry test for entry to Canada. For partially or unvaccinated travellers who are currently allowed to travel to Canada, pre-entry testing requirements are not changing.

  • Unless otherwise exempt, all travellers 5 years of age or over who do not qualify as fully vaccinated must continue to provide proof of an accepted type of pre-entry COVID-19 test result:
    • a valid negative antigen test, administered or observed by an accredited lab or testing provider, taken outside of Canada no more than one day before their initially scheduled flight departure time or their arrival at the land border or marine port of entry;
    • a valid negative molecular test taken no more than 72 hours before their initially scheduled flight departure time or their arrival at the land border or marine port of entry; or
    • a previous positive molecular test taken at least 10 calendar days and no more than 180 calendar days before their initially scheduled flight departure time or their arrival at the land border or marine port of entry.
  • Fully vaccinated individuals may still be selected for mandatory randomized testing on-arrival. If selected for mandatory randomized testing, fully vaccinated travellers will not be required to quarantine while awaiting their test result. If a fully vaccinated traveller receives a positive result, they will be required to isolate for a period of ten days.
  • Unless otherwise exempt, all travellers eligible to enter Canada who do not qualify as fully vaccinated will continue to be tested with COVID-19 molecular tests on arrival and on Day 8, while they quarantine for 14 days. This does not include partially or unvaccinated children under 12 accompanying fully vaccinated eligible adults who are no longer subject to quarantine requirements.
